The Canistel / Yellow Sapote is also know as the Egg Fruit.They fruit are a round or elongated tear drop shape and when ripe have an almost egg curry smell with hints of tropical fruit flavours like papaya and a texture like sweet potato.The Canistel originates from Mexico and Central America but are also commonly grown in South East Asia.They are a very versatile fruit to cook with and can be just baked like pumpkin or can be used in Soups , Curries , and even in puddings or cakes.
